Simplestream, a leading provider of video services such as live streaming and live-to-VOD solutions for the media and entertainment industry, has today announced two new key appointments to support the growing demand for its unified, end-to-end live streaming and live-to-VOD video services in the UK and beyond.

Sam Orton-Jay joins Simplestream as Sales & Marketing Director to raise awareness of the company through strategic diversification across the media, entertainment, sports and teleshopping markets. He is responsible for overseeing sales and marketing campaign execution for its unique range of cloud-based solutions to cement Simplestream’s position in the UK, EMEA, Americas and beyond. Prior to Simplestream, he worked in business development, strategy and sales positions in the video technology industry for 14 years at Sonic Solutions, DivX and NeuLion to define and deliver solutions to major operators, sports federations and broadcasters across Europe. Sam’s hire is a new role created to drive the wider strategic growth of the company.

Mike Alexander joins Simplestream as key Account Director to lead commercial and operational activities for larger broadcasters that are utilising Simplestream’s end-to-end solutions, helping them reduce the complexity and cost of providing video services to meet consumer expectations. Mike brings 16 years of strong experience from the digital TV and broader media sectors, including overseeing the ongoing development of Kingston Interactive Television – the world’s first commercially deployed IPTV service. Since then, he held positions at Pace, Strategy & Technology, VuTV and Synapse.
